Blankets of Hope

qLast year my father was the recipient of three quilts after he was medevaced from Afghanistan.  When I went to visit him at Walter Reed in January one of the first things he did was to show me the quilts that he had been given.  Two are now in his office.  I imagine that he shows his quilts to everyone that comes into his office.

Seeing how special the quilts were to him, I was inspired to make a quilt to give to the Blankets of Hope program.  Blankets of Hope are distributed to soldiers that are medevaced from Iraq/Afghanistan.  I started making my quilt in February and would have finished soon there after if it weren't for issues with an aging sewing machine.  After having acquired a new machine, I finally finished my Blanket of Hope this weekend!  I hope to make more in the near future.
