One Saturday morning, my friends from work treated me to lunch at The Glitz. How do I explain The Glitz? First of all, it is way out in the country. I'm so glad that we drove together. For one I'm pretty sure that I would still be looking for the place if I had attempted to find it on my own. But also, it was nice to be able to sit back and watch the countryside as we passed. The Glitz is in a building that used to be an elementary school. Now the top two floors are an antique store, barely reminiscent of the classrooms they used to be. The basement (formerly the lunch room) has been converted into a restaurant - The Glitz. Normally my camera is always in my purse, but for some reason I left without it that day. I really wish that I had a picture of the entrance. It is one of those times when a picture would have been worth a million words. At the risk of offending people who love it, I have just the word to describe it: gaudy. (Although I suspect that's why women are fond of it. It is just so over the top.) It is like entering another world jam packed with antiques and decorations. The dining room was decorated in pink and black with whimsical touches like fake vines and fountains filled with bubble like lights. Here is a picture from their website:
Please don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed my time at The Glitz. The food was fabulous and the company was even better. I finished off lunch with a Nonesuch Kiss. Oh man my mouth is watering just thinking about it! The restaurant is located in Nonesuch, Kentucky. Thus the name - Nonesuch Kiss. It is a meringue cookie with mocha ice cream, fudge sauce, and toasted almonds. Yum!
