Visit Wineries, check!

I'm getting close to the deadline on my current to-do list.  I was so glad when some friends agreed to take a day trip with me today.  We called it our route 7 trip.  It was great to cross two things off my list, enjoy unexpected places on the way, and brainstorm new things for my next to do list.

My Little Cupcake was the first stop.  Cupcakes are so yummy for breakfast.  I specially enjoyed the maple and bacon cupcake with maple buttercream and a piece of crispy bacon on top.  I was hesitant to try it, but oh so glad that I did!  YUM!  It is definitely the breakfast of champions no matter what Wheaties has to say about that. Next stop, getting a pumpkin spice latte.  It was the perfect sort of morning for pumpkin spice.  Today was a beautiful end of summer day for a road trip.

Then, we headed over to Shelburne Vineyard for a wine tasting.  It was a beautiful place with tasty wine.  I have to say with all of the wine I drank today I enjoyed all of it except one.  I think that's pretty good.  I had decided to get one bottle of wine at each vineyard (and of course a wine glass with their logo to add to my ever expanding collection).

With that we headed down route 7 to Charlotte Village Winery.  Apparently a family started a blueberry farm (thats the blueberry plants in the photo above).  Then they were talked in to making wine and their business grew from there.  I love that their wine tasting was free and included ever single wine that they made. :) They have a very yummy strawberry dessert wine.  The picture doesn't do the view of the mountains justice, but I had to try.  Vermont is such a beautiful place.  Every where that we drove were beautiful views of mountains, small towns, pastures, and farms.

Just a bit down the road we hit up Cookie Love.  The cookies are very yummy. The next stop was Dakin Farm.  They sell Vermont made products.  The store is full of samples of their products.  Let's just say we didn't need lunch afterwards.  We even stopped at Vermont Flannel Company.  Their flannel was soooo soft.  I wasn't quite in a mood to buy flannel yet.  But come winter I'm sure I'll make the investment.  I can't wait to get some new pj pants.

The last winery that we stopped at was Lincoln Peak Vineyard.  I was impressed that 100% of their grapes are from Vermont.  I liked their wine so much that I allowed myself to exceed my one bottle per vineyard limit.  I bought two.  :)  I have a pretty healthy wine collection now.

It was an excellent day!  I can't wait to do another road trip to explore places around Vermont.
